For teachers, designing a course for the e-Classroom is very similar to designing a course for the regular classroom environment. There are several items teachers must take into consideration when designing a course for the e-Classroom. Most of these concerns can be alleviated for teachers when developing a course by following the ADDIE framework.
Another possible challenge faced in the e-Classroom is being able to create a sense of community within the class and create effective opportunities for collaboration, as well as making the content engaging for the learner. However, with a little ingenuity, both of these possible obstacles can be overcome. To create a sense of community within the class, have students discuss topics with their peers through the form of a discussion board or blog. To create engaging content for the learning, utilize a variety of different forms of medias (podcasts, text posts, videos, etc.).
One of the most important items to remember when developing a course for the e-Classroom is to have a detailed plan. Before jumping right in to the graphic design component of your course, begin by creating an outline of how you want your course to flow like the example below.
